CONTINUING IN THE LINEAGE OF HER FAMILY TRADITION, REEMA DATTA RELEASES HER DEBUT ALBUM

(Los Angeles, CA) – Classically trained musician Reema Datta will release her Truth Love Creation on September 30th. The debut album is a unique collection of spiritually transcendent and meditative songs. The clarity and purity of her voice captures the ancient resonating tones of India and carries the connective thread of her third generation link back to her family in Central India.

Born into a family of yogis, Reema was first introduced to Sanskrit Chants and Philosophy by her 86-year-old grandfather, who still lives and teaches in India. Steeped in the ancient practices and studies, she has been surrounded by the music and singing mantra with her grandmother, mother and aunts since she was a child.

Going back to these roots and her deep family traditions she travels annually to India to study with master Indian musicians and further her studies of yogic practices. Also trained in western music she plays the clarinet and piano, is accomplished in the bansuri flute and tabla and has been performing internationally since 2004.

Reema formed a unique musical partnership with Feerenz Kallos, a classically trained violinist, who arranged and composed the ancient Indian melodies on 7 of the 9 tracks for Truth Love Creation. On “Anando Hum” she plays the bansuri flute and tabla, and on “Sri Krishna” and “Shanti Mantra” she is accompanied by renowned Nepalese Bansuri flutist Manose Singh. “Lullaby” and “Anando Hum” draw from her lineage and feature her mother, Lata Shri Datta, on vocals.

Co-author of the book, Sacred Sanskrit Words for Yoga, Chant and Meditation she has traveled throughout North America, Brazil, Tanzania, South Africa, Indonesia, Thailand, India and Europe. Her upcoming fall tour will include concert performances as well as her teachings of yoga and the Sanskrit language.

Reema is a founding member of the Usha Yoga Foundation, which brings yoga to marginalized communities worldwide. A portion of the sales from her CD will be donated to the cause.
